I think the new Malibu looks pretty damn good. Looks a bit upscale to me actually.

Kinja'd!!!

I don't think white is the most flattering color for it. Black Granite Metallic would look really good though. I like the twist the wheels have on the one they showed though.

And it's definitely got dat ass.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I swear, GM picked the worst colors to show this off in. The parchment and beige interior looks meh. Any interior in that color does IMO. That same interior in black with saddle seats, dash, and door inserts instead would probably look great. I'm disappointed there's still no paddle shifters though!

Changing the LTZ trim level's name to Premier is a bit weird, but it sounds fancy I guess. Killing the 2.5L for a 1.5T is an interesting move. Giving the 2.0T an eight-speed was a great idea, so long as they get the calibration right. And there's a hybrid based on the Volt's electrical architecture, which doesn't surprise me at all.

I will say this though: GM, Ford, and Chrysler now have the three of the best looking mainstream mid-sizers on the market, at least in my opinion. The Mazda 6 is up there with them though for sure.

Kinja'd!!!

That's nice. It's a little too reminiscent of the 200 from the side though. I think it's the roofline.

I agree on all points, especially the interior colors. I usually hate directional wheels and they really work here. I usually hate the split grill business but it actually works here (though the bowtie should be located center in the upper grill opening). The tail lights are what the Impala SHOULD have. And finally I used to hate swoopy/too many character lines (lookin your way, Mazda) but I've grown to like them (lookin your way, Mazda 3) and I really like them here.

And FINALLY a doglegless C-pillar (even though Chevy did it WAY before BMW).

Now, can I get the hybrid in the Premium trim level?

I agree, I'm not sure what all the hate is for. Overall I think Chevy did a great job with the car. My only complaint would be that I find the front end a little wonky, but its not unbearably bad. Just a little too busy for my taste. But from the headlights back I love every single line on the car. The interior also looks nice, a place I wouldn't mind spending time in, though I agree the colors they chose to debut do it no favors.

There's definitely some 200 in the roofline.

This is by far the best looking Malibu since the 90s revival.

2015 is like the best time for mid-size cars.

The new Accord looks really upscale, the new Camry is striking (contrary to every other generation being plain), The Kia Optima is gorgeous as usual, The Hyundai Sonata, Ford Fusion, Mazda 6, Chrysler 200, all look incredible. The Subaru Legacy is a great deal.

It's amazing. What used to be a pretty plain jane boring category, has become extremely competitive and lead to some of the best looking cars on the market.

Given how Ford offers the Fusion Hybrid in Titanium (Premium) trim level, I bet Chevy will offer the Malibu Hybrid in LTZ...er, Premier trim level

It looks mellow. Depressed would be the 200 and angry the Fusion.

It looks great, except for the front. However...

The front isn't busy... The bowtie is just in the wrong place.

I just read details that said the hybrid will be offered on all trim levels except the lowest.

Literally depressed: It looks like someone squashed an impala. It even shares the impala's non-cohesive rear end, which looks grafted from a Buick, which looked awkward and committee-designed already.

Malibu = modern beige. At least it doesn't look like the current Mali-poo blandmobile.

Agree - not overly sporty but solid and handsome. To each his own, but I don't understand the initial hate. Looks like it's itching to get out and run some fast highway miles.
